The word Balade, French for wandering, is a fitting term for our exploration of coastal vineyards that capture the signature Belle Glos style. Each year, we bottle a limited quantity unique and expressive Pinot Noir under the Balade label.
During the 2015 growing season, one vineyard block in the Russian River Valley stood out because of its low vigor, which yielded tiny but wildly expressive and concentrated berries. The wine has a lovely crimson-garnet color. Concentrated black cherry woven with aromas of black plum and blueberry intertwine with notes of spice. On the palate, the wine is ripe and full with tones of wild berry, maple tobacco, strawberry cola and a bright minerality. Overall, the structure is athletic with a winning balance between opulent fruit and bright acidity.
